Golfito is a thriving town of some 7 000 people which stretches along the coast of the little Gulf hence its name and backed by mountains topped with lush green forests Although it is possible to drive to Golfito it is a 7 or 8 hour drive over of course mountains most people elect to fly here Golfito s little gulf opens up into Golfo Dulce which is actually one of only three tropical fjords in the entire world A fjord is an inlet that is long and narrow surrounded on all sides by steep cliffs Most people think of the ice covered fjords of Greenland Iceland and Norway Lots for sale in Golfito Costa Rica are purchased for many reasons Some people come because they love to live near Golfo Dulce where they can watch dolphins and humpback whales Others come for the sport fishing amberjack marlin and tuna to name only a few species Others come for the wildlife and bird watching in the interior
